AABB Accreditation Staff will introduce the eight quality tools available on the AABB website: https://www.aabb.org/news-resources/resources/clinical-practice-resources; these quality tools are Check Sheet, Pareto Chart, Fishbone Diagram, Flowchart, Histogram, Control Chart, 5 Whys, and the Affinity Diagram. Using these quality tools, the AABB Accreditation Staff will dissect actual objective evidence cited for nonconformance to Standard 5.0: Process Control “The organization shall ensure the quality of products or services.” Two examples of objective evidence of non-compliance will be presented for BBTS and CT Standard 5.0. These examples of non-compliance will then be followed by examples of processes or procedures meeting the requirements of Standard 5.0. Finally, Standard 5.0 nonconformance scenarios will be provided for small group discussions to be facilitated by Accreditation Staff. Using Quality Management tools to analyze nonconformances can assist in identifying best practices and mitigation for facilities to plan for AABB Standards implementation and conformance.
Learning Objectives:
Identify Common themes involved with AABB nonconformances to Standard 5.0: Process Control.
List quality tools available on the AABB website to use in a systematic approach to minimize and mitigate any identified nonconformances
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the identified quality tools and an example of an application
Apply a sampling of the quality tools to nonconformances for corrective action and process improvement.
Describe processes and procedures meeting AABB Standard 5.0.
